Everton’s EPL Revival Continues with 4-0 Leicester Thrashing

Everton stunned Leicester City with a dominant 4-0 victory at Goodison Park.

They started with a bang, scoring the fourth-fastest goal in English Premier League history.

Abdoulaye Doucoure hit the net just 10 seconds into the game. This marked Everton’s third consecutive league win under David Moyes.

A Dream Start for Everton

Leicester’s defense crumbled within seconds as Jordan Pickford launched a long ball forward.

Doucoure pounced on the opportunity, drilling the ball past goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

The Foxes were caught off guard, and Everton showed no mercy.

Six minutes later, Beto doubled the lead. James Tarkowski delivered a perfectly weighted pass.

Beto latched onto it and fired a first-time shot into the bottom-left corner. The early onslaught left Leicester struggling to regain control.

Dominance in the First Half

Everton continued to press aggressively. Doucoure sliced an effort over the bar, and James Garner, making his first start since October, struck the post. The hosts smelled blood and went for more.

Just before halftime, Beto struck again. Garner played him through on goal, and the striker made no mistake. Leicester’s defense was in shambles, failing to track Beto’s clever run.

Ndiaye Seals the Deal

The second half saw Everton maintain their dominance. Leicester had a rare chance when Jesper Lindstrom forced a save from Pickford. However, it was too little, too late.

Iliman Ndiaye put the game to bed in the 90th minute. A defensive mix-up by Leicester gifted him the ball, and he slotted it home with ease. The win moved Everton above Tottenham Hotspur into 15th place, nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Moyes’ Magic at Work

David Moyes is proving his worth in his second stint as Everton boss. His tactical reshuffle, necessitated by injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala, worked perfectly.

Beto stepped up as Everton’s only fit striker and delivered a stellar performance. His movement and finishing ability caused endless problems for Leicester. James Garner was another standout, controlling the midfield and providing a crucial assist.

Everton have now won three consecutive league games for the first time this season. Moyes has instilled confidence in his squad, and they are showing resilience.

Leicester’s Defensive Nightmare

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side had no answers for Everton’s attacking threat. The Foxes were coming off a thrilling 2-1 comeback win against Tottenham. However, they failed to carry that momentum into this match.

Leicester’s defense was exposed from the start. Boubakary Soumare misjudged Pickford’s long ball, allowing Doucoure to strike. Both of Beto’s goals came from simple runs behind a high defensive line.

In attack, Leicester struggled to create chances. Star playmaker Bilal El Khannouss was ineffective, while Jamie Vardy managed just nine touches before being substituted. Their first shot on target came in the 73rd minute, but Pickford saved Patson Daka’s effort with ease.

Managers’ Reactions

David Moyes praised his team’s effort, saying, “Great credit to the players for another outstanding performance. Scoring after 10 seconds gave us a big confidence boost. It was a great start.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy was disappointed but urged his team to move on. “Everton were very effective. We knew we had to stay in the game early, but we didn’t. We worked so hard to beat Tottenham, so this is tough to take. But we have to move on.”

What’s Next?

Everton now turn their attention to the FA Cup, where they face Bournemouth. They will then prepare for the high-stakes Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Leicester, meanwhile, will hope for a better showing in their FA Cup clash against Manchester United. Van Nistelrooy returns to face his former club, having served as interim manager at Old Trafford earlier this season.
