Everton Out of FA Cup after 2-0 Loss to Bournemouth

Bournemouth ended Everton’s FA Cup dreams with a 2-0 victory in the fourth round.

The Cherries secured their place in the next round with goals from Antoine Semenyo and Daniel Jebbison.

This was the last FA Cup match to be played at Goodison Park, making the defeat even more painful for Everton fans.

Bournemouth’s Dominance from the Start

Everton came into this match with confidence after three straight English Premier League wins. David Moyes, who returned to the club, hoped for a cup run.

However, Bournemouth had other plans. The Cherries pressed aggressively from the start, not allowing Everton to settle.

Antoine Semenyo was the star of the first half. His pace and skill troubled Everton’s defense, especially James Tarkowski.

In the 23rd minute, Semenyo won a penalty after Tarkowski made a reckless challenge in the box. The Ghanaian winger took the penalty himself and fired past Jordan Pickford to give Bournemouth the lead.

Everton Struggles to Respond

Everton had some moments of promise, but they struggled to break Bournemouth’s defense. Iliman Ndiaye had a chance to equalize but failed to beat goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Bournemouth continued to press high, forcing mistakes from the Toffees. In the 38th minute, Tarkowski made another costly error.

His poor clearance fell straight to Marcus Tavernier, whose shot was parried by Pickford. Unfortunately for Everton, the rebound landed perfectly for Daniel Jebbison, who slotted home Bournemouth’s second goal.

Everton’s Late Push Not Enough

Moyes made changes in the second half, bringing on Carlos Alcaraz, who was making his debut. The Argentine almost pulled one back with a stunning free-kick that hit the post.

Everton continued to push, with Jake O’Brien and Jack Harrison also hitting the woodwork. However, Bournemouth’s defense held firm, and Everton could not find a way back into the game.

A Painful Goodbye to the FA Cup at Goodison

This loss means Everton’s last-ever FA Cup match at Goodison Park ended in disappointment.

The Toffees have not won a major trophy since 1995, and the wait continues. Moyes had hoped for a fairytale run, but Bournemouth ensured that dream ended early.

For Bournemouth, this victory shows their growing strength under manager Andoni Iraola. They have now reached the FA Cup fifth round and will be hoping for more success.

What’s Next?

Everton must now focus on their Premier League campaign to avoid relegation. Bournemouth, on the other hand, can look forward to their next FA Cup challenge.
